 Project Release Information2011-02-03 12:22 This release has been tested thoroughly to work with the FFmpeg 0.6 branch. It adds a slew of new binary codecs and leverages everything added to FFmpeg. Notable additions are VP8 decoding, H.264 bugfixes and speedups, and unencrypted Blu-ray support. Network streams can now be played through FFmpeg. There was quite a bit of subtitle work. Ogg and Matroska demuxer defaults were switched to libavformat. The window position is now decided by the window manager. The codebase was cleaned up. External library copies were synchronized with upstream, and external library support was extended. 2007-11-07 11:55 Support for several codes, including many video game codecs, was added. Resolution switching and change of aspect ratio was fixed for several codecs. Blu-ray/HD-DVD type support for VC-1 in MPEG-PS/TS was added. Many stream types were added. Many other improvements and fixes were made. 2006-10-23 22:52 Native VC-1/WMV3, an On2 VP5/VP62 decoder, proper SSA/ASS subtitle rendering, and DVDnav support. Many bugfixes, enhancements, and speed-ups here and there. 2006-06-21 20:04 Several major issues issues were fixed. Support for compilation with a non-executable stack was introduced. Many decoders and demuxers were added or enhanced. Filters, drivers, and documentation were improved. 2005-04-17 10:36 Two security bugs in the MMST and RTSP code were fixed. MPEG output file support for easy VCD and DVD creation was added to MEncoder, along with multiple file encoding. The encoding documentation was greatly improved. Quite a few audio and video codecs were added, most notably snow, a next generation, wavelet-based video codec. Lots of bugfixes were made all over the code. Project ResourcesProject Description MPlayer is a movie and animation player that supports a wide range of codecs and file formats, including MPEG 1/2/4, DivX 3/4/5, Windows Media 7/8/9, RealAudio/Video up to 9, Quicktime 5/6, and Vivo 1/2. It has many MMX/SSE(2)/3Dnow(Ex) optimized native audio and video codecs, but allows using XAnim's and RealPlayer's binary codec plugins, and Win32 codec DLLs. It has basic VCD/DVD playback functionality, including DVD subtitles, but supports many text-based subtitle formats too. For video output, nearly every existing interface is supported. It's also able to convert any supported files to raw/divx/mpeg4 AVI (pcm/mp3 audio), and even video grabbing from V4L devices. |  |
