This version adds support for querying external
databases. So far, PubMed, Web of Science, and
CrossRef are available. Transparent conversion
between database formats is possible. Integration
with OpenOffice.org and LyX was added, and many
internal cleanups were done. The graphical user
interface, available as pybliographic-0.2, offers
a new editing widget, support for undo/redo, and a
plugin infrastructure for batch modifications. The
interface can now run on Windows.
A toolbar search widget was added, the tooltips were made clearer, LaTeX .aux file parsing was improved, bugs related to Unicode search queries and BibTeX keys were fixed, and translations were updated.
This is a preview release provided an interesting Python platform for importing, merging, batch modifying, formatting, fixing, and enriching bibliographic data. It is not bound to a single data format but can work with most of them. The code is extensible: you can easily adapt the existing parsers to match your needs and define a data schema that corresponds to your data. It is developer friendly and can be integrated with your own Python development, and uses Python instead of complex configuration files for most of its extensions, like the citation formatter.
The BibTeX parser has been improved (@preamble handling and better escaping of URLs). The user interface has better support for external resources. Some robustness fixes were made (autosave and better backup).
