Errors when saving files (e.g. no write
permissions) are now handled. A bug in testing for
check was fixed. Pop-up windows were removed and
replaced with tooltip style banners. A banner
appears when the game ends. Moves can be reported
in a number of formats (human readable, LAN, SAN).
Load game properties were re-enabled.
A castling logic error was fixed. The window
manager is now told to mark the window when a
human player is able to move. The main window
title was changed to "Chess - game name".
Difficulty levels for AIs were added. A 2D
rendering bug was fixed. The program now works on
X servers without OpenGL support. GConf is used
for configuration when available. Game and UI
preferences are remembered. A dialog about 3D mode
is brought up if libraries are not installed. The
translations were updated.
This release adds many fixes to make UCI support
work, support for the
Fruit chess engine, an update of the icon to the
Tango version, and
support for loading games saved in Knights (KDE).
The program now to save games on exit and stops loaded games from being appended to the autosave. It also registers with GNOME if the GNOME libraries are installed. Lithuanian and Punjabi translations were added and the other translations were updated. A bug with generating OpenGL rendering errors was fixed. A more reliable method for running chess engines that ensures that they die if glChess dies was implemented.
This release fixes exception selection outside the board in 3D, adds Diablo, HoiChess, and BBChess to the list of autodetected engines, and fixes PNG support on 64-bit systems. A full-screen mode was added. An issue with the 'close' button in the About dialog not working on GTK+ 2.10 and later was fixed.
