A built-in SOCKS 5 proxy service, official inclusion in Debian, FreeBSD support, an Ubuntu /bin/sh (Dash) compatible init script, a fix for HTTPS/tunneling instability, support for NTLM-free (open) proxies, and major code refactoring.
NTLMv2 and NTLM2 Session Response (NTLMv1.5) authentication types were implemented, and were tested against Windows and Samba. All existing NTLM versions are supported now. Password-less configuration is possible. The NTLM config required for your proxy is automatically detected. NTLM flags and versions can be manually overridden. Transparent handling of GFI WebMonitor AV scanner for ISA, workstation name detection, SuSE RPM support, and easy compilation were added. Various non-critical bugs were fixed.
Windows support and a simple installer were added.
The program automatically and temporarily switches
to the NTLM-to-basic mode if the configuration
file credentials fail. The Debian directory was
moved, and packages are created the Debian way.
An error message is printed on stderr if starting
is not successful (instead of only returning an
error code). The init scripts were updated not to
display possible error message (uses only RC). An
NTLM-to-basic feature with multiuser support was
implemented. This can detect a wrong password,
allowing multiple tries without restarting the
browser, and includes a builtin "access denied"
page.
