A new menu design and UI graphics are used,
allowing easier server browsing, player setup, and
game creation options. Two maps were added. The
models for several items and three weapons were
updated. New gibs were made. Many texture
improvements were made throughout the game.
Performance, networking, and memory usage were
improved. Graphical improvements include water
reflections, completely new particle effects, and
improved fog rendering. Bots were improved,
including AI improvements for CTF and Domination
game modes. The map voting system was improved. A
new antilag system (similar to "unlagged") was
added.
This release has improved in all areas. The engine received a massive overhaul, runs faster, renders more beautifully, introduces sharper effects, and brings you closer to the action. This release adds new maps, retouches and rebalances the guns, and reworks most texturing effects. The new maps, textures, and general additions to Nexuiz have doubled it since the last release.
A security problem was addressed. A new hidden
mutator was added. Respawn delay is now
configurable. Nexuiz-linux scripts can now take an
option of "+vid_x11_display :3" or a cvar of the
name vid_x11_display. A number of bugs were fixed.
There are both new weapon and item models plus new
graphics for the HUD. For single players, there is
now support for multiple campaigns. As usual, a
number of bugs have been fixed. Additionally, a 35
map pack and campaign for use on the servers and
single player has been released.
This release fixes some of the problems that were encountered in 2.0, and adds some of the features that were requested. 2.0 will be able to play with 2.1 without problems.
